Rising Sun Car Show 2012

Well its that time of the year again where we travel down to Lincoln for Rising Sun Car Show, This being my first show of the year, sadly missing Japfest. The show pounced up upon us rather quick and prep time pretty much being nothing!
With this year being my first year in the CL9 after the death of my civic i thought lets make a little impression that more people should be thinking about said car as a choice, so my preshow prep consisted of winding the coilovers down!
With the stand sorted out - thanks Martin for sorting me out on short notice the Honda Culture x Sumo Hashiru stand was ready, troops rounded up meeting at my unit we made tracks to meet up with the rest of the army at Ferry bridge services. I am lacking in pictures as Henry was my deadicated mobile snapper for the trip down!
We arrived at the showground in a convoy of hondas, then it was pitch up, drink up, and BBQ up time!
with alcohol drank like it was free, gary and rob soon rocked up.
For a weekend where the weather was so nice i was kinda dissapointed with the turnout for the show, Rising Sun for me has never been as much about the cars but more about the people and a enjoyable weekend, cars are just a bonus!
On Saturday with neil as a early arriver as we were setting up the stand, we were ready to show what we had to bring from stock - clean - charged etc.

Gary's DC2
The Saturday Team

Standard of cars at the show in general were good, alot of things dont really appeal to me, ie lambo doors huge body kits etc etc but i guess each to their own and its what the owners likes which makes our cars stand out for better or worse!

heres two cars which i thought were just awesome!

With alcohol drank, endless amounts of BBQ food ate and a heavy Friday night, Saturday was a less eventful night, maybe because i fell asleep for 3 hours and missed most of the night but hey!

Sunday the unexpected happened, show had kicked off, cars cleaned, BBQ's going stand set up

Sundays Stand
So as I was saying the unexpected did happen after playing on the dodgems and buying some more Poorboys polish, Henry gets a call asking me to go over to the back corner of the showground for a photoshoot for a blog? turns out its a blog for Fueled Society i think these guys have something to do with novak, when arriving gary and curley were already there.
After their pictures were taken i couldnt help myself but to get some shots for myself as the location was so beautifull!

Then the rest of the crew joined us

All in all it was YET! another fantastic weekend  for myself and i can quite happily say for everyone from our lot who went, we enjoyed it! I do hope this aint the last RSCS for ever, but fantastic job Martin and Nat youve done it again!

We'll be showcasing at the Fueled Society Show in Wakefield June15th. Hope to see you there!

Team Sunset

Since BDC Norfolk 2011 ive started following the Team Sunset Drift Team quite abit. Their level of knowledge on BMW's and general fabrications is exceptional - see Art In Motion. There the people behind the astonishing E30 Lock kits that can be seen on their drift cars.
The team consists of :-
Matty Stevenson - PS13 BMW 4.0 V8 Vortech Supercharged powered  - BDC Semi Pro, NDC Pro Round 2 3rd place

Peter Crown - NDC 2012 Semi Pro Round 1 Winner

Darren Rickaby - BMW E30 4.0 V8 AIM Lock kit - NDC 2012 Novice Round 1 and 2 Winner

Rob 'Reggie' Wray - Who has a fantastic BMW E30 4.0 V8 Touring which Pete a currently using in the NDC

Theres Various other people who are always at the unit giving a hand etc including myself but this here is your main line up behind Team Sunset.
Now ive been to the BDC events back in the day and I knew about Team Sunset from John Glaister when he used to go to the JNE meets in his lime green PS13 but i never seen them compete etc, Now it wasnt untill i got talking to the lads back in 2011 when i met matty again, long story short we were going to swap cars many years ago. it turns out they were getting ready for BDC at Donny to where unfortunately the fresh engine blew up
Then it was Norfolk Round 2 with a week to go Matty decided that he was going to compete and a engine was required with one week to go a sensible engine would be to replace the SR but as it is Team Sunset the chosen engine was a 3.0 BMW V8, Wait..... BMW in a Nissan? Thats right. The lads worked sleepless nights fueled by Rockstar and Dominos, the car was ready for round 2 BDC, considering it was a different engine, different driving style, different power delivery, the driving skill of Matty handled the car very well and if i remember correctly finished top 6 in his class. Sadly with him working on the cruise ships the season pretty much ended for him there.
So heres how the write up progress into 2012.
Theres a new competition getting hosted in the North East by Teesside Auto Drome the Northern Drift Championship NDC this is a Entry level Competition for all drivers Novice to Pro, now this is really where Team Sunset can shine. Pete needed a car, Rob had a half build car why not! so many more sleepless nights later the BMW E30 4.0 Touring With AIM Lock kit Was built. Darrens BMW E30 4.0 V8 AIM Lock kit equipped was build skid ready slightly earlier than Rob's

Which to end my post early, Team Sunset a team thats gone through many many changes, with great deadication to the sport have only really properly started to compete and properly get their name out there, although everyone knows who they are, track action was a rare sight. Untill now, Matty is now running a 4.0 V8 Vortech Supercharged set up in his PS13 and looking to do well in the BDC, Pete and Daz are doing Exceptionally well in the NDC with bigger plans for 2013. Watch this space.
